During the Israeli aggression on Lebanon in September 2024, which led to the forced displacement of a large number of residents, several cultural organizations and art collectives quickly took action, launching humanitarian initiatives to support the displaced. In response, Culture Resource provided support to six initiatives launched by organizations and collectives that had previously benefited from its programs. The support aimed at enabling them to implement socially engaged projects, with a particular focus on children and youth. The supported initiatives are:
- Beirut Synthesizer Center & Tunefork Studios Joint Initiative for the Displaced
- Clowning Shows Initiative by Awrad, Clown Me In
- “Think of Others” by Roaya Corner Cultural Center
- “Art Relief”, a joint initiative led by ADEF, Youth Animation Platform and InConcert, in collaboration with visual artists (In progress)
- An initiative to be launched by Al Madina Theatre
- An initiative to be launched by Beirut Art Center
As part of the ongoing coordination between the supported initiatives, representatives of the six initiatives met on 4 February 2025, at Beirut Art Center to exchange experiences and insights on the implementation of their projects. They also attended a presentation titled Managing Art Sessions and Facilitation with Survivors of the Latest War: Red Flags, Referrals, and Psychological Safety, moderated by Mike Ayvazian and Chimène Jabbour from Astharté.
Three initiatives have been implemented so far, while the fourth is currently in progress. Work continues on the remaining two initiatives to ensure support aligned with the post-war phase.
