The 3rd Literary Platform for Young Arab Writers “Safha Jadida” was held in Madaba, Jordan during the period from 9 to 15 July 2007. “Safha Jadida” is organized by Culture Resource (Al Mawred Al Thaqafy) in collaboration with Azmenah Publishing House in Jordan. “Safha Jadida” was held for the first time in July 2004 in Egypt and has attracted a wide number of young Arab writers.
In “Safha Jadida” 16 young Arab writers between the age of fifteen and thirty from all Arab countries met for one week and engaged in creative writing workshops and discussions as well as public readings.The discussions were moderated by the Libyan/American poet Khaled Mettawe and the Egyptian writer Sahar El-Mougy. A book documenting these discussions and including selected texts by some of the participants will be published by Azmenah Publishing House after the platform.The platform was concluded with two public readings in Amman in Beit Taiki and in Remal Gallery.
