Amal Ramsis is a filmmaker from Cairo. She studied law at Ain Shams University in Cairo, and cinema at “Séptima Aras” in Madrid. In 2008, she founded the “Between Women Filmmakers” Caravan and the Cairo International Women’s Film Festival, the first annual itinerant women’s film program in the Arab region. Since 2007, Ramsis has led the international women’s workshop series “Correspondence between Women”, and since 2019, the Creative Documentary Workshops in Egypt. Her films, including “Only Dreams” (2005), “Forbidden” (2011) “The Trace of the Butterfly” (2015), and “You Come From Far Away” (2018) have won several international awards and have been screened at numerous festivals.
