Reem Shadid

Reem Shadid is a curator and cultural organizer who works on the emancipatory and liberatory possibilities within artistic practice. Most recently, she was the Director of Beirut Art Center in Lebanon (2023-2024) and a co-curator for Small World, the 2023-2024 edition of Taipei Biennial. In 2023, she also co-curated the second edition of New Visions, the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter triennial for photography and New Media. She is a contributing editor at Infrasonica, a digital platform of non-Western cultures for experimental sound and visual art practices. She was the producer and host of Radio Alhara’s show Listening with Reem Shadid; and also conceived and produced Aridity Lines, a podcast on local ecological knowledges and climate change in the south-eastern Mediterranean region, published on TBA21-Academy radio (2021-2022). Between 2006 and 2020, she was the Deputy Director of Sharjah Art Foundation, where she served in various capacities. She sits on the executive board of the Palestine Film Institute and the grants committee of the Samia A. Halaby Foundation.
