Association of Al Madina theatre for Arts and Culture
Lebanon
Performing Arts
Masrah Al Madina was established by Nidal Al Achkar in 1994 in the old cinema of Clemenceau. In 2014, the theater grew into a non-profit organization called Al Madina Theater Association for Arts and Culture and then relocated to Hamra in 2005. Masrah Al Madina seeks to build communication bridges between visual arts and the complicated daily life. The theater also aims at promoting culture and arts in Lebanon in general and in Beirut in particular as well as supporting young people who are still facing wars and crises that prevent them from engaging in fine arts in Lebanon. The theater’s management has worked systematically on inviting many leading theatrical groups from Lebanon, the Arab region and the world in order to help people overcome the Lebanese Civil War.
Al Madina Theater organizes plays, performances, festivals, exhibitions, screens movies and hosts cultural events such as conferences, and workshops for writers, filmmakers, artists, dancers and university students.
