Beirut Film Society is a non-profit association that works closely with Lebanese and international filmmakers, film associations, and/or other entities around the world to empower the film industry in Lebanon and the Arab World.
BFS seeks to raise awareness about social issues through cinema and organizes film events in Lebanon and abroad to introduce cinema culture as an educative tool to human rights and to spread the Lebanese culture as reflected in Lebanese films when and where possible.
BFS believes in the power of cinema and audio-visual mediums in making a change and seeks to educate the young, in Lebanon in general, and in rural societies in particular, on how to use these tools to express themselves and seek change.
BFS also promotes "Cinema for a Cause" to raise awareness on issues such as gender equality, women's causes, children's rights and peacebuilding, through organizing cinema activities such as screenings, training sessions, seminars, workshops and networking events.
