Fadi El Abdullah is a Lebanese poet, lawyer, communicator, writer and music critic born in Tripoli and currently living in The Hague.
He has worked on a wide range of performances and publications.
As an artist and writer, El Abdallah has contributed to exhibitions and presentations such as Revolution vs Revolution, Beirut Art Center (2012) and Signatures, Home Works 5, Ashkal Alwan, Beirut (2010). He has also collaborated with Bilal Khbeiz and Walid Sadek in the collective Group Tuesday to present Tragedy in a Moment of Vision and Knowledge of the Expelled, Sharjah Biennial 8 (2007) and File: Public Time, Home Works 3, Ashkal Alwan, Beirut (2005).
El Abdallah’s publications range from articles on law, music and film to literary criticism. He has developed a particular interest in traditional Arabic music and its connection to social and economic systems. He is an honorary editor at Ma3azef, an online publication specializing in Arabic and international music. Prior to obtaining his current position at the International Criminal Court, The Hague (2008–present), he taught law at two International Business Institutes—IDAI, Cairo and Centre Melun, Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas (2002–2004).
El Abdullah studied music at Le Conservatoire Libanais, Beirut (1991–1995) and Beit El Oud, Cairo (2003). He pursued studies in law at Université La Sagesse, Beirut (1999) and holds a master’s degree in law from the Lebanese University, Beirut (2001). He also received a master’s and Ph.D. in law from Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas (2002 and 2008, respectively).
