Awrad - Clown Me In is a Lebanese organization that gathers a group of professional clowns and performers using humour, clowning, street theatre and social therapy to shed light on important social, environmental and humanitarian issues. It aims at creating direct and lasting social impact through its projects, whether they are immersive street theatre performances or intensive workshops, by addressing difficult themes like migration, human rights, and social responsibility. CMI also creates viral video and social media campaigns on topics like consumption, waste, anti-discrimination and racism (among others) to reach a wider audience. Within Lebanon, the group aims at making arts and culture accessible to a wider public by taking their projects outside the capital to rural and/or disadvantaged communities and building bridges between communities through them. Clown Me In has also worked around the world, in Mexican, Lebanese, Palestinian, Indian, Brazilian, Moroccan, Jordanian, Syrian, Greek and British communities.

«The Network for Cultural outreach (NCO)» aims at implementing a sustainable and open network for performing arts in Lebanon, with the purpose of decentralising culture, of providing artists and technicians with work opportunities around the year and of creating the conditions for producing accessible works that can tour villages and reach all social categories and audiences.

The Street Festival La Mercè
The grant enables Sara El Berjawi and fellow members of the Clown Me In company to travel from Lebanon to Spain to take part in La Mercè, an annual street festival that focuses on the culture of the Mediterranean region. For this occasion eight performers from Clown Me In will present a clown theater performance highlighting such basic themes as love, peace and respect within contexts of crucial social and environmental issues.
