Mawa3eed grant results: 2017, Round 1

Culture Resource is pleased to announce the grantees of the first round of Mawa3eed for the year 2017. The Mawa3eed grant mirrors Culture Resource’s vision of supporting cultural and artistic exchange between all Arab countries.

Grantees:

1- Ala Younis (Jordan), visual artist: The grant supports her travel from Jordan to Egypt in order to display the installation “Plan for Greater Baghdad” at the Contemporary Image Collective centre in Cairo.

2- Jowe Harfouche (Lebanon), Executive Director of The Network of Arab Alternative Screens (NAAS): The grant supports the travel of seven members of NAAS to Morocco to take part in a workshop in Tangiers designed to help them develop their projects.

3- Yousef Mustafa (Egypt), musician: Received a grant to support the travel of seven members of Al Mena band from Cairo, to take part in the third edition of the Karane Festival in Oujda, Morocco.

4- Youssra El Hawary (Egypt), musician and accordionist: The grant supports her travel with two other musicians from France, Britain and Belgium in order to record an album in Egypt.

5- Haisam Abdel Hameed (Egypt), filmmaker and scenarist: The grant supports his travel to Morocco to screen his film “Art is Life” in the fifth edition of the Tetouan Film Festival and the seventh edition of the Meknes Film Festival.

6- Mais Harb (Syria), singer: The grant facilitates her travel from Syria to Tunisia for an artistic residency in the city of Sfax.

7- Abdulrahman Al Zubidi (Jordan), Director of Me’maryoon for Development: The grant enables three architects from Egypt to travel to Jordan to take part in the Oxala project which aims to revive public spaces in Irbid through urban interventions.
