The Tandem Shaml 5 Partner Forum was organized at Dar Eyquem in Hammamet, Tunisia, from 19 to 24 June 2018. Fifteen cultural managers from the Arab region and 15 from Europe participated.
During the meeting, the participants worked on creating joint projects between an Arab and a European institution.

Nine final joint projects were selected during a meeting held at MitOst headquarters in Berlin, Germany. The jury consisted of representatives of Culture Resource, MitOst, ECF and Tandem Shaml alumni.

Fatima Alhashmi (Abu Dhabi) & Miljenka Buljevic (Croatia)
Project: Cultural collaboration from the scratch
Partners want to initiate international collaborations between UAE and Croatia and create opportunities for international exchange of artists. The project is a research and production process (cultural incubator) resulting in new cultural content, knowledge and practices. The collaboration experience will be recorded step by step and exposed to public scrutiny.

Sandra Edward (Egypt) & Sara Machado (Portugal)
Project: Documenting Questions
Our collaboration is interested in questioning the present dynamics in the artistic practices and productions. Starting from interviews with artists, researchers and cultural practitioners from both countries, we engage deeper with a smaller group of artists to interpret the research material in their own way during a short residency.

Project: Urban Lab Community
Our Tandem partnership is a collaboration between complementary synergies in order to build a methodology of working together in the city. The principal concept is sharing our skills in creating some temporary urban and interactive installations in Turin and Tangier, experimenting an unusual way of using public space.

Nelly Abboud (Lebanon) & Konstantina Angeletou (Greece)
Project: SIRAJ: Spinning Tales across the Great Blue
The SIRAJ is an intergenerational project that aims at recording traditional stories while promoting the necessity of the preservation of intangible heritage. The project targets young children and seniors with a central focus on offering an enriching cultural experience to the most vulnerable and marginalized audiences.

Ala’ Hamamreh (Palestine) & Maria Tetradi (Greece)
Project: HuG (Humanitarian Graphics)
HuG (Humanitarian Graphics) is an innovative Cross-cultural Infographic Digital Platform aiming to raise awareness, break stereotypes and represent the common challenges and potential of the refugee & other vulnerable communities in Greece and Palestine. HuG embraces diversity and integration through employability and inclusion in their hosting communities.

Nada Abdelwahab (Egypt) & Silvia Giordano (Italy)
Project: Staging Walls
“Staging Walls” is a research-based-multidisciplinary project aimed at exploring visible and non-visible barriers in our social context.Theatre as a common ground, as a space dedicated to sharing and exploring, fostering the encounter.Hewar and Teatro-Prova intend to share their theatre experience addressed to international young audiences engaging the topic of immigration.

Amjad Al-Mestarihy (Jordan) & Snezana Curuvija (Serbia)
Project: Garage music – park your music anywhere!
Garage music – park your music anywhere! is joint project of Mikser Association (Belgrade, Serbia) and MedeArts (Irbid, Jordan) organisations. It is dedicated to promoting music as universal language and a tool for intercultural exchange, with a mission to raise capacities of both organizations and their networks.

Tara Aldughaither (Oman) & Lidija Pisker (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
Project: Women Heart Art
Women Heart Art gathers elderly Bosnian and Omani women is an experimental education project, simultaneously held in both countries. While learning art & craft techniques typical of the other country, women virtually encourage each other’s participation and share their traditions and cultures through Heartbook, an alternative social media platform.

Yasir Faiz (Sudan) & Farah Alzubaidi (Ukraine)
Project: Jisr-Mict (Bridge)
A series of video advocacy workshops combining with a series of video productions of shared contents and screenings, in order to create an interactive bridge between Ukraine and Sudan on the hands of junior filmmakers from both countries, capturing touchable images, promoting the intercultural dialogue and human rights awareness.

The Kick Off meeting will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden from 25 to 29 October, and will be hosted by TILLT organization, which participated in the 3rd round of the program.
