During the month of October, Aflamuna platform presents a program of selected films that were produced with the support of Culture Resource’s Production Awards over the past 10 years.
The program seeks to present a variety of films that attempt to flee the prevailing images of the subjects they cover by proposing films that question those that we usually do not want to see. These images have shown a debate between violence and peace. They have escaped from the dualism of utopia/dystopia, as an inevitable aesthetic fate, towards suggesting the transformation of utopia into images that have become the backbone of violence and murder and those of missing archives and the violence that destroyed them. There are also images of fiction, madness, and neuropsychiatric unfitness resulting from institutional and social violence. Hence, the question is: Are those imposed alien images that we do not want to see? Or do they emanate from the old complex violence layers cumulated within us? What are the causes of such violence?
You can now watch the first film of this program, 300 Miles by Orwa Al Mokdad (Syria), available until 10 October, 2021.
