The Cultural Policies program at Culture Resource has begun work on the Report on Cultural Policies in the Arab Region for 2021. Scheduled for publication in the last quarter of 2021, the report covers four main themes: cultural diversity and its relationship to civil peace, problems of funding the cultural sector (both the public and private sectors, pre- and post- Covid 19), the problems of cultural legislation and ways to modernize it and bring it into conformity with international law, and the contribution of digital structures to the Arab cultural scene and ways to enhance it. The report is being developed through a participatory approach between a group of researchers, cultural policy experts and advisors, who are led by Habiba Laloui, a researcher and a Culture Resource General Assembly member. The Culture Policy program team is coordinating periodic sessions with the report team for discussions and exchanges on the report content.
