Abdo Nawar is a filmmaker, director, independent Curator, professor, and director of the Shams Association. He has been active in the Lebanese art scene since 1982, staging several plays and directing numerous documentaries and short films. In 2001, he founded ICARE, which is dedicated to the visual arts and multimedia in Beirut. In addition, he leads the SHAMS Association and is a board member of BJCEM. Nawar has been a lecturer at several Lebanese universities and has been part of the teaching staff at the Institute of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University since 2014. Since 2007, he co-directs RAMI, a platform for experimentation and distribution, alongside Claudine Dussollier, facilitating international exchanges focused on contemporary art, digital tools, and multimedia.
