Ahmed Alfaitouri is a Libyan writer, journalist and editor-in-chief for the Cultural Week (the first weekly Arab newspaper specializing in culture). He published several articles in Arab and international periodicals such as Al-Arab newspaper of London, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Al-Quds newspaper and Al-Jadeed magazine. He is the president of al-Mayadin, a Benghazi weekly newspaper first published in 2011 and president of the Union of Libyan Writers. He published books on politics including “Libya in the Midst of the Arab Spring” and “Corona in Politics and Culture” and a collective book titled “Five Years of the Arab Spring”.
He also published several novels including “Biography of Bani Ghazi”, “Beyd al-Nisaa”, “Sarib”, “Alf Dahes” and “Laila Ghabra”. He also published books in literary criticism such as: “The Soldiers’ Poem on the Libyan Poetic Question” and “A Culture in a Cloudy Situation”.
Alfaitouri published a collection of poems, most notably: “A Repentant Love Poem”, “Doaa Al-Faitouri” and “A Wolf Howling in the Empty Bed”. In 2014, he was a member of the Novel jury for the Arab "Booker" Prize for Fiction and for Culture Resource’s Production Awards program (2016-2020).
