Art El-Lewa Art Space

The project is an artist in residence exchange program, which aims to unite contemporary artists and urban planners on a common topic: It is dedicated to the question of how the development of cities and their transformations influence traditions and culture. Our main focus will be on street markets, their transformations through the surrounding developments of the city and their role in society. How are these changes influencing urban segments and life of neighbourhoods /streets, in which the markets are located? Conducted by Egyptian and Georgian visual artists, urban planners and researchers in popular areas of Cairo and Tbilisi, the outcome of this artistic research will be exhibited in both cities
