Ayten Amin is an Egyptian film director. She started her career in 2006 with her short film “Her Man” which was officially selected in Clermont Ferrand Festival as well as many other international film festivals and was screened for a year on Canal Plus.
Ayten made three short films that won many national prizes. In 2011, she collaborated with the producer Mohamed Hefzy and co-directed the documentary “Tahrir 2011:the Good the Bad and the Politician” with Amr Salama and Tamer Ezzat. The documentary was officially selected in Venice Film festival , Toronto ,Leipzig and won the best film in Norway films at the South film Festival and Beirut Documentary Film Festival.
She made her feature debut in 2013 “Villa 69” which won the Special Jury prize at Abu Dhabi Film Festival. The film was produced by Mohamed Hefzy.
In 2017, she directed the series “Seventh Neighbor” which had more than 20 million views.
In 2020, she made her second feature film “Souad” which was officially selected in Cannes 2020 and Berlin Panorama 2021, making her the first Egyptian female director to be officially selected for both festivals.

Screenning of two short films, a documentary, and a long narrative movie
The Egyptian film maker has received a grant to support her travel from Egypt to New York, USA for the screening of her two short films, one documentary, and one long narrative movie at the Archives Film Anthology. Her travel will include work sessions to develop the script for her next film.
