Essa Al Mufarji

Essa Al Mufarji is a visual artist who uses diverse forms and materials to create distinctive works of art. He works primarily with sculpture and installation, combining mixed media and materials to express his ideas and develop his artistic compositions. His works vary in scale and incorporate Arabic calligraphy, geometric forms, and symbols inspired by the environment, architecture, and Islamic ornamentation. His practice engages with diverse ideas and questions about humanity, visualizing the multiple identities we carry as we search for balance and inner energy as part of life’s evolution. Through this exploration, his work seeks to bridge the gap between the artist’s identity and the historical and cultural influences that shape it. Al Mufarji has participated in numerous local and international exhibitions, most notably representing Oman at the Venice Biennale 2024 as part of the Omani section. He has received numerous awards, including the Grand Award five times, as well as multiple Gold Awards in GCC art competitions. His works have also been acquired by various public and private institutions, as well as individual collectors.
