Hamdi Makhlouf was born in Tunisia. He is an oud player, vocalist, composer and musicologist. Makhlouf holds a Ph.D. from Paris Sorbonne University and is currently working as a lecturer at the Higher Institute of Music in Tunis. Makhlouf supervised the scientific activity of the Center of Arab and Mediterranean Music and managed three sessions of one of the biggest Tunisian festivals, the JMC (Carthage Music Days). Hamdi Makhlouf’s research spans musical creation and Arabic modern composition. He wrote several scientific articles in many revues on this topic. He was also invited to many national and international committees such as AFAC (Arab Fund for Art and Culture), the International Festival of Hammamet and the National Diploma of Arabic Music (National Conservatory of Music in Tunis).
