Hanan Kassab Hassan is an expert at the Theatre Affairs Center, Ministry of Culture, Qatar (2020-2024) and a PhD Professor of Semiotics at Damascus University (1983-2012) and Saint Joseph University, Lebanon (2001-2024). She served as Dean of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus (2006-2009) and as General Manager of Damascus Opera House (2009-2011). She was also General Secretary of Damascus Arab Capital of Culture (2007-2009). Hanan is a member of the Conseil Culturel de L'Union de la Méditerranée UPM, France, and a Board Member of the Roberto Cimetta Fund for mobility. She has participated in evaluation committees for cultural projects including IFPC UNESCO, Kuwait Prize for the advancement of Science, Doha Drama Writing Award, DROSOS, Michel Seurat Award, Sundance Theatre Lab, Al Mawred, Culture Ressource, AFAC, and Ettijahat-Independent Culture.
