Huda Lutfi is a Cairo-based Egyptian artist and historian. In 1983, she received her Ph.D. in Arab Muslim Cultural History from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. She was a professor of Arab Cultural History at the American University of Cairo and supervised several artistic workshops for children in Cairo, Copenhagen, Cleveland and Ohio. Through her work, Lutfi tries to combine the past and the present while crossing different cultural boundaries. She is interested in representing both women and men in the social sphere.
Lutfi’s recent work is centered around Egypt’s social and political events and covers a wide range of mediums including collage, photography, installations and video. Her work has been exhibited both locally and internationally.
