Maqamat is a non-profit organization that was founded in Beirut in 2002. The organization played a huge role in the creation and development of contemporary dance in Lebanon and the Arab World. Its performances were presented in more than 80 festivals and theatres around the world such as the Bolshoi (2019), Romaeuropa festival (2018) and Seoul International festival, to name a few. Together with a wide network of international and regional partners, Maqamat has supported and presented works for local and international artists. One of the most important achievements was the creation of BIPOD, an international dance festival offering a rich program of performances, workshops and talks to a large audience, not to mention Moultaqa LEYMOUN, Takween and Citerne Beirut.
Since December 2019, Maqamat has been working between Lebanon and France, which allowed it to sustain its activities and projects and continue to support Lebanese artists and dancers.
