Mary Elias

Mary Elias is a university professor who taught at a number of educational institutions including the University of Damascus, the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts in Damascus and St. Joseph’s University in Beirut. She has authored a number of publications and translations in the field of theatre, including a critical dictionary of theatre in three languages (in cooperation with others), an anthology of modern French drama and research papers on theatre. She has managed a number of training workshops in various fields, most significantly in dramaturgy.
She has also directed a number of development projects in Syria, chief of which are the interactive theatre programmes in government schools and in rural Syria and the development of the youth theatre.
