Mohamed Soueid is a Lebanese writer, director and critic.
He is currently the head of the documentary department at Al Arabiya News Channel in Dubai, where he produced several documentaries in collaboration with producers from Europe, the USA, China and Japan.
He also wrote in several Lebanese and Arab newspapers and worked as a film critic and editor of the cultural section at Assafir newspaper (1982-1992) and the weekly cultural supplement of Annahar newspaper (1992-2002).
He also published critical articles in Al Kifah Al Arabi and AlHayat newspapers.
Mohamed Soueid published several books including "Postponed Cinema - Lebanese Films During the Civil War" (Essay, Published in Beirut 1986); "O Heart - A Film Autobiography On The Late Movie Theatres Of Old Beirut (Published in Beirut, 1996); "Cabaret Souad" (Novel, Published in Beirut, 2004).
Soueid has co-written the feature film "The Gate of Sun", directed by the Egyptian Yousry Nasrallah. The movie was the adaptation of Lebanese writer Elias Khoury's novel "The Gate of Sun".
Soueid has also presented his lecture performances in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the National School of Fine Arts in Paris and he participated in several art forums in Lebanon, the Arab Region and Europe.
Soueid has also written and directed several films and documentaries including:
Ana Lak Ala Toul (1993), Ana fi AlCamilia (1994), Women in Love (1995), the trilogy Tango of Yearning (1998), Nighfall (2000), Civil War (2002), The Sky is Not Always Above (2007), My Heart Beats Only for Her (2008), How Bitter My Sweet (2009) and A Spell of Absence (2011).
