The first edition of the Tripoli Film Festival was held against all odds in 2014. Since then, the festival has continued yearly. In 2019, Tripoli Film festival achieved its 6th edition, with a Panorama section that has been added on the occasion of "Tripoli: Cultural Capital for the Arab World in 2023". Along with the round tables covering all cinema industry issues, specialized workshops and masterclasses are also organized during the Forum. In 2017, a pitching platform was added to the Forum in order to support Lebanese feature films with key investors, producers and distributors from Lebanon and the Arab region. Since then, many Lebanese films were supported through the TFF Forum and its platform.
In an attempt to promote Lebanese cinema, Tripoli Film Festival organizes outdoor screenings in rural and devastated areas of Tripoli such as Kobbeh, Beb Tebaneh, Jabal Mohsen and Tal.
