Culture Resource is pleased to announce the names of the grantees of the fourth round of the Mawa3eed travel grant. As one of Culture Resource’s ongoing programs, Mawa3eed aims to support the cultural and artistic dissemination of artistic products and exchange within and among all Arab countries.
The recipients for the grants in the December 2016 round are:
Rabee’ Hanani (Palestine), writer and theatre director: The grant supports the travel costs of the members of the Kark’a Ensemble to Tunisia to present the play Anaser (Elements) in the second edition of the Jamna Theatre festival.
Hameed Alrubiee (Iraq), member of the Writers Federation and Fiction Club: The grant is to enable him and two other members of the Iraqi Writers Federation and Fiction Club to travel to Egypt in order to take part the Cairo Literature Festival which includes among its activities book signing sessions and cultural seminars.
Beshoy Adel (Egypt), actor and theatre director: The grant supports the costs of the Joker theatre company travel to Tunisia to perform Ayam Safra (Yellow days) at the Thala Cultural Palace, in the Kasserine Governorate, and contribute to a joint workshop on the fringes of this event.
Mohamed Fariji (Morocco), artist: The grant enables three members of the “Citizenship for the Collective Memory of the City” project to take part in the Sharjah Residency Program in the UAE. This residency is one of several programmes organised by the Sharjah Arts Foundation.
Ramzi Jebabli (Tunisia) of the Culture and Development Association: The grant supports this association to invite the Jordanian band Autostrade, to take part in the Sicca Jazz Festival at Kef, Tunisia.
Othman El Kheloufi jazz band (Morocco): The band received a grant to support the travel of its six members from Morocco, Belgium and the Ivory Coast to Jordan where they will perform in the sixth edition of the Amman Jazz Festival.
