Fourth Time: Remix Plus!
Remix Plus in Egypt
The 4th Arab youth music platform “Remix Plus” was held in Cairo during the period from 6 to 15 November 2008 and included 17 musicians and composers from Jordan, Egypt, Tunis, Palestine, Syria and Morocco and focused on music composition and improvisation.
“RemixPlus” was organized by Al Mawred Al Thaqafy and led by the Jazz composer Toufic Farroukh , the oud player and composer Charbel Rouhana from Lebanon and the Egyptian Composer Fathy Salama. The platform took place in Cataract Pyramids Resort and was concluded with a concert in El Genaina Theatre on Thursday13 November within the events of The Jazz Factory Festival.
The music was recorded and released as a CD in April 2009. Participants also competed for three album production grants which were won by Mohamed Sawah (Egypt), Jasser Haj Youssef (Tunisia) andMohamed Antar (Egypt).
Remix is a creative encounter for musicians from different countries and diverse music traditions, oriental and western. It gives the participants the opportunity to experience new musical styles, to experiment with each other and perform to a wide audience.
