The Abbara program, which aims to support independent cultural and artistic organizations and groups in the Arab region, launched the first training workshop of its sixth round on Monday, 4 May. The workshop, which will last ten days, is being held online due to the current home quarantine circumstances. Afterwards, facilitators will initiate one-on-one sessions with each of the participant organisations. The participants will reconvene online as a group on 25 May for a working day and evaluation.

The ten-day workshop focused on cultural systems, organisational concepts and strategic planning and featured specialised sessions dedicated to discussing contemporary topics relevant to cultural work such as digital security and the development of a contemporary digital language.

This is the first meeting of the 11 participant organizations in Abbara 6. Two representatives from each organization are taking part in the workshop which is facilitated by the researcher and cultural programmer Rana Yazaji (Syria), the dramaturg and cultural director Abdullah Al Kafri (Syria) and the cultural manager & activist Teodor Celakoski (Croatia).
