Culture Resource held its General Assembly meeting in Beirut, on 21-22 May, and elected a new Artistic Board to oversee the organization’s work for the next three-year term guided by the organization’s strategy for 2022-2026.
The newly elected Artistic Board consists of Mourad Sakli (Tunisia) as chairman, Habiba Laloui (Algeria) as vice president, Therese Ghobriel (Egypt) as secretary, Fatin Farhat (Palestine) as treasurer, Hanane Hajj Ali (Lebanon), Abderrahmane Lahy (Mauritania) and Marwa Helmy (Egypt). In a letter to the Artistic Board and General Assembly teams, Artistic Board Chairman Mourad Sakli, who was unable to attend the meeting in Beirut, wrote, “As we approach our 20th anniversary after two decades of remarkable success, I pledge to do my utmost to help preserve, disseminate and expand the scope of Culture Resource’s accomplishments and to promote further institutionalization and modern governance.”
He expressed his sincere appreciation to the outgoing Artistic Board chairman, Mourad Kadiri, and other members of the previous board (2018-2021) in which he had served as member. “I can testify to the dedication, foresight, wisdom and objectivity of the team under his stewardship, as well as to their genuine desire to advance Culture Resource’s organizational and communicational capacities.”
He also praised the Culture Resource director and team for their work and their “outstanding ability to adjust to changing circumstances and challenges – some structural, others urgent and profound – at the local, regional and international levels.” He vowed that the elected Artistic Board would secure the necessary support and resources to enable Culture Resource to continue to establish its mark and build its partnerships. He concluded with a pledge to the General Assembly members to foster participatory and transparent governance that will ensure the diversity that serves the organization’s strategic aims.
