Culture Resource has the pleasure of announcing the names of the successful applicants who will be receiving a travel grant within the framework of the Tajwaal Program – Round 1. Tajwaal was launched in April 2016 and is a direct translation of Culture Resource’s vision of supporting the dissemination of regional culture and arts globally.
Tajwaal Round 2 is ongoing, and applications are received until 20 October 2016. The announcement of the results of the next Round will be around 20 November 2016.
Grantees
- Ayten Amin (Egypt): The Egyptian film maker has received a grant to support her travel from Egypt to New York, USA for the screening of her two short films, one documentary, and one long narrative movie at the Archives Film Anthology. Her travel will include work sessions to develop the script for her next film.
- Ali Chahrour (Lebanon): Together with 5 members of his group, Ali Chahrour will be traveling from Lebanon to Portland, USA, to present the performance “Laila’s Death” at the Time-Based Art Festival (TBA). The performance will be followed by a discussion, and the group will also participate in a workshop.
- Al Harah Theater (Palestine): This theater group that consists of 8 persons will receive a grant to support its travel to Milan, Italy, where it will present the performance “Rahm” (Arabic for Womb) as part of the broader event “So is life” in a number of Italian cities. The tour is organized in cooperation with the municipality of Reggio Emilia and the Italian Dance Woods group.
- Amaan Choir (Jordan): The Jordan-based choir that consists of 24 members will receive a grant to support its tour to a number of European countries, including the Netherlands, France, Poland, Austria, and Slovenia.
- Red Noses (Palestine): Three persons from the Palestinian Red Noses will receive a grant that will support their participation in work sessions organized by Red Noses Clowndoctors International (RNI) in Vienna, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
- Zoukak Theater Company (Lebanon): Two members from this Lebanese theater company will receive a grant to support their participation in Belgrade, Serbia, in a knowledge sharing project together with the Serbian Center of Cultural Decontamination. The project includes a seminar, a workshop, a refugee-needs assessment field study, and a series of theater performances.
- Centre Tuniso-Africain de formation des arts scéniques et des arts de la rue (Tunisia): This group that consists of 22 young artists will receive a grant to support its travel to Lyon, France, to take part in theater workshops and present a theater performance that focus on issues related to racism and integration.
