So Close Project - a partnership between Emiliana Sabiu representing Associazione Cherimus, and Hatem Boukasera representing Mass'Art Arts-Space
Many young Tunisians dream to migrate to Europe looking for a better life but in Europe to host the immigrants it is sometimes a nightmare: the growing migration brings out social and economic inequality and lack of mutual understanding. Even though Cagliari and Tunis is only 280 km apart, the gap of cultural understanding is far from being overcome. Using art and music as an effective tool to address daily reality and social context, we will organize two residencies, wherein Sardinian and Tunisian artists and musicians will collaborate, with the aim to create a unique final concert/performance in Cagliari, based on the stories of Tunisian immigrants in the city and of remaining families of emigrants in Tunis. Visual artworks, stage design, and interactive activities will be added to the theatre show resulting in an intense cross-cultural and interdisciplinary dialogue, creating a link between the two cultures. Project activities will be implemented between September 2014 and April 2015, involving 10 actors, 4 musicians, 3 international artists, 10 Tunisian immigrants in Cagliari, 5 remaining families of emigrants in Tunis, 20 youths coming from the neighborhood of Mass'art and Cherimus
