Ramadan in Genaina Theatre:
From Mawal to Rap
For the second year, Culture Resource put together at El Genaina Theatre in Al-Azhar Park a program comprising of a varied range of acts stretching from folklore singing, Oriental and Andalusia music to Jazz, modern fusion and Rap
Moreover Hayy!, included concerts launching albums for four new musical groups, entitled New Orient Sounds. The four albums are produced by the Lebanese production company Incognito. Free promotional CDs will be given away to the audience, including sample works of the four groups: AL Door Al Awal, Sharkeyat, Riadh Abd Algawad & his group and Mazica We Bass.
Hayy! program also premiered in Egypt Saboon, a group recently founded by the young Lebanese musician Zeid Hemdan, founder of Soup kills, and introduced the vocals of Algerian singer Karima Nayet. In that concert Saboon featured Lebanese Rapper RGB. Saboon’s concert was to be held during the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, and was postponed due to flight difficulties.
In Co-operation with the Spanish Embassy in Cairo, Hayy! presented the Spanish group Musica Antigua, in a concert entitled The Egyptian Girl. The concert included pieces and songs from the Orient and Andalusia, as well as collaborations with young Egyptian musicians.
Hayy! concluded the program on the 27th night of Ramadan with a children’s evening that included face painting by young artist Yafa Gweily, and the amazing Friends Circus Troup show.
