Hanin El Bahar – January 2006
A Palestinian Theatre Performance presented by Al-Harah Theatre in El Genaina Theatre
In cooperation with Culture Resource, Al-Harah Theatre presents the play “Hanin El-Bahar” (Longing to the Sea) in El-Genaina Theatre at Al-Azhar Park on Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th of January 2006 twice per day: at 2:00pm and again at 4:00pm.
This performance is a part of Al-Harah Theatre’s January & February 2006 tour, presenting 50 shows for the play in Cairo, Alexandria, and El-Menia. The tour will also include some Jordanian villages and cities and some Palestinian camps in Jordan in the aim of reaching the largest number of children possible.
The play tells the story of Hanin, who is a little girl facing obstacles and difficulties during her quest of finding answers to several questions, which arise inside her after experiencing the loss of her grandfather.
Hanin tries to send a message to children not to give up on their dreams and to hold on and keep the faith in order to achieve their goals and reach a better future by developing strong, confident characters capable of making decisions despite all possible challenges and difficulties.
The play is directed by Raeda Ghazaleh and performed by Reham Esehak, Raed Abo-Haresiah, Samy El-Metwasy, Foad Hendiah and Nicola Zrerineh.
The play was first introduced in 2005 at Backa Theatre in Sweden. It sold the highest number of tickets back then and showed 31 performances in theatres and schools all around Sweden. The play was also greatly successful in Palestine and won the prize of “Best Children’s Theatre Performance” in the Children Theatre Festival in Romania 2005.
