Remix 2011 Concert on 1st of October at El Genaina Theater

The concert features Homayun Sakhi from Afghanistan, Bassel Rajoub from Syria, and Badiaa Bou Hreizi from Tunisia with 14 Musicians from the Arab Region and Central Asia

El Genaina theatre hosts the final concert of the 6th Music Workshop Remix 2011 on Saturday 1st of October. The concert features 17 Musicians coming from Arab world and Central Asia, in collaboration with the Aga Khan Music Initiative. On Friday 30th of September, the first concert will take place in Aswan at the Open Theatre, Cornish El Nil. The workshop is a creative encounter for musicians from Arab countries and Central Asia. It gives them the opportunity to combine and experiment with diverse music traditions from both regions where they share old traditions and culture. Remix concert on the 1st of October includes musical compositions for young Arab Musicians Badiaa Bou Hreizi, Bassel Rajoub, and Mohamed Sawwah in addition to the compositions of the outstanding Afghan rubâb player Homayun Sakhi.

Remix is organized by Culture Resource (Al Mawred Al Thaqafy) in collaboration with the Aga Khan Music Initiative, a nine-country music and arts education programme, with world-wide performance, outreach, mentoring and production activities. Launched to support talented musicians and music educators working to preserve, transmit, and further develop their musical heritage in contemporary forms, the Music Initiative began its work in Central Asia, subsequently expanding to include musicians and artistic communities from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia.
