In Support of Tourism to Egypt:

Remix 2011 brings Musicians from the Arab Region and Central Asia into Aswan

Remix 2011 workshop is a creative encounter between musicians and composers of different musical and cultural backgrounds. Artists participating in the 6th Remix music platform gather and work together to celebrate and express their common cultural and musical legacy in a contemporary format. This resonates with Al Mawred and Aga khan Music Initiative’s common goal of helping build cosmopolitan music modernity in Central Asia and the Arab world by reassembling diverse expressions of the region’s musical heritage in contemporary forms.
The Workshop will take place in Aswan, from 18th of September 2011, under the leadership of Egyptian music director Fathy Salama and guest musician Charbel Rouhana of Lebanon, then it will culminate in two concerts performances in Aswan and Cairo, Egypt.

Remix is organized by Culture Resource (Al Mawred Al Thaqafi) as part of the organization’s efforts to support a new generation of Arab artists. This year’s platform is held in cooperation with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and the High Music Institute in Damascus.
