Hanan Sabea is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Editor-in-Chief of Cairo Papers in Social Science at the American University in Cairo. Her research interests include political and economic anthropology, focusing on the relationship between labor and the state in Tanzania during the colonial and post-independence periods, illegal migration from North Africa to Europe, power dynamics in the production of history and its diverse narratives, knowledge production in the humanities and social sciences, and the Arab revolutions and the reconfiguration of political practices in everyday life.
